Description of the research topic:
Investigation of genetic background of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases mostly focusing on pancreatitis and related disorders. In this translational project we detect and in vitro analyze missense and possibly pathogenic mutations of genes associated with GI disorders. Based on the available literature we scientifically and clinically investigate genotype-phenotype associations of some mutations. Our further aim is to investigate possible treatment options of GI diseases using genetic mouse models.
