Description of the research topic:
Excessive greenhouse gas emissions resulting from rapid population growth and urbanization have significantly altered the global climate and threatened people's livelihoods. As the main natural component of cities, urban green spaces have great potential to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and mitigate the impact of climate change on cities. However, the current attention on the monitoring and optimization measures of carbon storage and sequestration in urban green spaces is very limited. The proposed research recommends Budapest and cities with similar territory as study area, based on data from remote sensing images and field surveys, at urban, local and micro scales.
