Description of the research topic:
Results from RHIC and LHC have shown, that the color degrees of freedom in high energy heavy ion physics are indeed partly deconfined, but they behave collectively and create a strongly interacting perfect fluid. Many properties of this matter are still unknown. The topic of this research is to investigate this matter, via the measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations, the investigation of the spacetime structure of the particle emitting source and possible particle creation mechanisms including coherence. We plan to perform multi-particle correlation measurements at the LHC, to understand the changes in particle production, the spacetime structure as a function of collision energy and system size.
