Description of the research topic:
The research of geometric network models and the embedding of networks into metric spaces is a prosperous field of complex network theory. The key idea is to represent the network nodes as a point cloud in a metric space where the connection probability or the observed connections and the geometric distance between point pairs are in close relation. A particularly interesting case is provided by hyperbolic networks, where the curvature of the metric space is negative and the exponential growth of the space volume as a function of the radius enables the hosting of small-world networks in a very natural manner. The planned study is focusing on the actual questions of network geometry related research.
