Description of the research topic:
In recent years repair and rehabilitation of existing structures have become one of the most challenging problems in Civil Engineering. In the last few decades several attempts have been made in various countries to study these problems and to increase the life of the structure by suitable strengthening measures. Strengthening can be a costeffective alternative to replacement and is often the best solution. The choice of strengthening techniques applied to any particular situation depends on technical and economical factors. A few previous studies have considered serviceability in the behavior of two way slabs. Serviceability refers to the conditions under which a structure is still considered useful. Serviceability limit state design of structures includes factors such as durability, overall stability, fire resistance, deflection, cracking and excessive vibration. The present research will study the effect of strengthening on the serviceability of the concrete slabs.
