Description of the research topic:

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) accounts for 15% of all lung cancers, with short median survival and often metastatic at diagnosis. Although tumors have a good response to initial therapy, resistance is acquired soon. During treatment and the evolution of SCLC, the neuroendocrine tumor cells often change phenotype such as decreased genomic instability and switching to non-neuroendocrine state next to drug resistance. Our goal is to understand what genomic and epigenomic alterations are needed to orchestrate these phenotypic changes that lead to resistance and contribute to the short survival of SCLC patients.
