Description of the research topic:

Small towns compose characteristic elements of urbanisation, connecting rural areas to regional and global networks and providing workplaces and services for a relatively large part of the societies. Essential parts of the small-town identity consist coherence, interconnected and relative homogeneous community with high level of trust and social capital. However, small towns are facing economic, structural and demographic challenges, permanently loosing resources and influence. Researches focusing on the fragility and/or resilience of small-town communities are welcome to this topic, including general approaches and local case studies. Good English skills and experiences or at least interest of qualitative research methods are required.
