Description of the research topic:
The PhD research projects should be focused on the processes of economic restructuring, linking local/urban and macro-processes such as financialisation, globalisation, migration, state restructuring etc. driving socio-spatial changes in since the late 1970s. The project should deal with either of the following issues: (i) growth and restructuring in the service sector; (ii) innovation and knowledge economy; (iii) consumption-centred restructuring of urban spaces; (iv) economic restructuring in old industrial centres and its institutional contexts in Central and Eastern Europe; (v) the changing role of urban policies and planning in European cities.
