Description of the research topic:
After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise the state establishment worked as a stable system until World War I. Beside the ministries the counties and the municipalities formed the executive power. The immovable system of the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy state-system and the economical prosperity induced the state building operations. The society became more and more civilian thus the architectural competitions spread widely. This process was favoured by the Association of Hungarian Engineers and Architects. Despite this course many of the design-commissions arrived to the architects directly.
The Hungarian Parliament, many county-halls and municipality-halls were built in this era. The objective of the study is to make a deeper historical research on this topic. The question of the style, from the early historicism through the late historicism to the architectural movements at the turn of the century should be evaluated, just like the location, the mass shaping and the functional system of the buildings.
