Description of the research topic:
The membrane operations can be sorted into the clean, green processes. The aim of research work is to study environmental problems solved with distillation and membrane separation processes and to develop novel, economical separation methods. The main task of membrane operations are membrane filtration (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis) and pervaporation. The separation is focusing to the separation of (highly) non-ideal mixtures and suspensions. Laboratory experimental work and computer modelling are possible over the research work. Professional flowsheet simulators (ChemCAD, Aspen Plus) and analytical devices (GC-MS, water titrator) are available for the research. Life cycle assessment (LCA) and cost estimations are possible for evaluation of methods.
