Description of the research topic:

Lexicography tends to quickly embrace advances in corpus linguistics, including the latest quantitative aspects of the field. The aim of this research is to study how word frequency and word co-occurrence frequency appear in (and influence) different lexicographical subtasks: headword inclusion, definition writing, the ordering of senses, finding and documenting collocations, etc. Our PhD candidate is expected to contribute to the theory and practice of quantitative lexicography; the practical contribution should be aimed at the English and/or the Hungarian language.
