Description of the research topic:

ANCAs are pathological autoantibodies the presence of which is associated with certain types of vasculitides and other autoimmune disorders. The antibodies recognize antigens localized in the cytoplasm of neutrophil granulocytes. Using different immunological techniques 3 major types of them are described: cANCA, pANCA and atypic ANCA. Since antigen specificity of atypic ANCA is hardly characterized, in our project we try to identify autoantigenes binding to IgG and IgA type atypic ANCA present in the sera of patients with autoimmune liver diseases and cirrhosis.
