Description of the research topic:
Endosonography has an significant role in the differential diagnosis of solid and cystic pancreatic lesions, as well as in the local staging of upper and lower gastrointestinal malignancies. Besides, therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound guided interventions are also gaining importance in the clinical practice, although their exact place in the therapeutic protocol is not unequivocal.
The following will be assessed:
1. Efficacy of ensonography in diagnosis and sampling of upper gastrointestinal and pancreatic malignancies
2. Efficacy and safety of EUS-guided ablation of solid and cystic pancreatic malignancies
3. Efficacy of rectal endosonography in staging of rectal tumors and differential diagnosis of perirectal lesions especially in the diagnosis of tumor recurrence.
