Description of the research topic:

The interaction of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR) is a well-documented phenomenon that can result in modified signaling. Bifunctional ligands can be able to interact with GPCR monomers and/or dimers as well in a synergistic manner. The mu opioid receptors (MOR) and the cannabinoid (CB) receptors are important pharmacological targets in pain management, their co-localization and interaction are experimentally evidenced. The responsibility of the candidate is to develop novel ligands for the activation of MOR and CB receptors followed by pharmacological characterization of the bifunctional compounds.
