Description of the research topic:

Chemometrics is a branch of tools of mathematical statistics, linear algebra, convex and computational geometry, information-technology and formal logics to get optimum analytical/chemical information from chemical (or related) measurements. The main matrix and multidimensional array based techniques are SVD (singular value decomposition), PCA/PCR (principal component analysis/regression), PLS (partial least squares), TLD (trilinear decomposition), PARAFAC (parallel factor analysis), SMCR (self modeling curve resolution).
Within the framework of the research topic, the task will be theoretical and practical investigation and development of essential algorithms for the evaluation of real or simulated measurement results coming from suitably chosen analytical chemical measurements (possible methods: LIBS, Raman, NIR, LC(GC) UV-Vis/EEM/MS-(MSs), etc.).
The relevance of the Information Technology will be focused on, thus it is not necessary to build the entire chemometric system. Instead, the theoretical and practical novelties of the (e.g., convex geometric or (multi)linear algebraic) algorithms will be decisive.
