BTEX, PAH and short chain halogenated hydrocarbon compounds are frequent pollutants not only in Hungary, but world-wide. In most cases bioremediation is the economical and smallest ecological footprint procedure of choice. It can be stated that there are no universally applicable solutions, each new site constitutes a new challenge for optimization, but there is a need for novel microbes, and technologies too.
