Description of the research topic:
The exocrine and endocrine pancreas are very closely linked both anatomically and physiologically. Patholpgical condocions in the exocrine tissue can therefore cause impairment of endocrine function and vice versa. Non-alcoholic fatty pancreas and liver disease and pericardial adipose tissue are often associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Interactions betwen the exocrine and endocrine pancreas and the way it can be influenced are studied.
