Geochemical characteristics and deformation behaviors of the lithospheric mantle beneath the Eastern Carpathians inferred from the study of mantle xenoliths
Thesis supervisor: Csaba Szabó
Location of studies (in Hungarian): Lithosphere Fluid Research Lab, Institute of Geography and Earth Science, Eötvös Loránd University Abbreviation of location of studies: ELTE
Description of the research topic:
"Abundant xenoliths of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle hosted in recent alkali basalts in the Eastern Carpathians provide an opportunity to conduct direct observations of chemical and physical processes in the lithospheric mantle environment related to plate convergence.
This research will combine petrographic, fabric, deformation, geochemical and fluid inclusion studies to understand the influence of subduction and collision beneath the study area. "
Recommended language skills (in Hungarian): B2 level English Further requirements: MSc thesis in geology, previous experience in field work, sampling and petrographic microscopy
Number of students who can be accepted: 1
