Description of the research topic:

The general goal of this study is the assessment of algal-bacterial interactions as exclusive sources of antimicrobial agents. Mutualistic associations between eukaryotic green algae and their bacterial partners (either natural or engineered) will be investigated at the genomic level, the associations will be interrogated for various secondary metabolites, ribosomally synthesized peptides and novel community functions.
