Description of the research topic:

The research and analysis of the tourism of the cross border areas and the cross border relations is very up-to-date especially where border checking have been ceased (EU and Schengen members).
Cross border co-operations are especially important where purely Hungarian regions have been cut away from the mother country, since these common projects could promote in preserving the Hungarian identity. For instance the ethnic landscapes (such as Hetés, Őrség, Göcsej, Palócföld) which earlier formed an organic unity but now are cut in half by the borders could form a living community again and could mean the bases for the cross border co-operations either in cultural or economic perspectives especially in tourism.
And last bit not least the European Union provides significant amount of support in order to strengthen cross border co-operations so it is the economic interest of the local population to exploit the new opportunities and to resort EU funds.
