Description of the research topic:
There are various levels of the analysis of texts written in human languages. Beyond determining the structure of words and sentences, the understanding and representation of meaning is also important. Algorithmic solutions to this problem achieve improving results. The goal of this research topic is to define algorithms that are known from research on human language comprehension and that are able to extract information from texts answering questions like when and how what happened to whom, and how did the writer feel about it, etc. Furthermore, these questions do not only appear at the level of sentences, but a wider context needs to be taken into account as well.
