Description of the research topic:
The apopto-phagocytosis program plays a central role in maintaining tissue homeostasis. Apoptotic cells are generally cleared without initiating inflammation. What is more, they actively inhibit the pro-inflammatory response of macrophages provoked by other stimuli. In the present program the mechanisms through which apoptotic cell uptake leads to inhibition of inflammation is investigated.
