Description of the research topic:

Between the two sides of the labour market there is a significant information asymmetry. Considering the current topic, at least two sources of it worth mentioning. First, the job applicant knows its own inner productivity (and other characteristics) much completely than the employer. Even if the employer is able to gather some of the missing information it is always costly, and the measurement is most frequently imperfect. Second, the job seekers are underinformed about the true attributes of the job and the organisation, compared to the employers. Both types of asymmetry pose serious and continuous challenges for the organizations’ HRM system, that are highly dependent of social and economic factors and institutions of the given labour market.
In a PhD dissertation about the above described topic an appropriate model of the relevant information asymmetries of a given labour market (a selected sector of a selected country) should be developed, and based on this model, the efficiency and effectiveness of recruitment and selection strategies and methods should be estimated. The empirics of the dissertation should be grounded on the combined literature of labour economics and human resource management.
