2003-től tagja vagyok az MTA Neveléstörténeti Albizottságának. 2006-tól 2016-ig az ELTE Tudományos Tanácsának tagja, 2010-től 2016-ig az ELTE Habilitációs Bizottságának tanácskozási jogú tagja voltam, 1997-2000-ig és 2005-től 2016-ig az ELTE TÓK Tudományos Bizottságának az elnökeként tevékenykedtem. 9 önálló könyvem mellett, 10 tudományos kötetet és 6 oktatásban használatos szöveggyűjteményt szerkesztettem (többségüket másokkal).
