1967-ben doktoráltam, 1974-ben kandidátusi, 1983-ban az MTA doktori fokozatot. 14 hónapot A. von Humboldt-ösztöndíjjal München, 19 hónapot az NIH-nél kutattam. 1990-ben MTA lev. tag lettem. 1990-1993 közt a DKLTE rektor, míg 1997-2003 között az OTKA elnök voltam. 1989-ben Zemplén Géza, 1993-ban Szent-Györgyi, 1995-ben Széchenyi-Díjat nyertem. 1996-ban az MTA Kémiai Tudományok Osztálya elnöke voltam. 2001-ben Szilárd Leó prof.-i, és a H. Hughes Med. Inst. Internat. Res. Scholar Awardot nyertem. (to be translated)
