József Hegedüs was a member of the Advisory Board of Global Research Network on Human Settlements of UN-Habitat between 2004 and 2009, he is one leader of a Working Group of East-European Housing Policy at European Network for Housing Research from 1989 till 2016, a member of the Housing Policy Advisory Group of the Hungarian Government from 1996 till 2010, and member of the International Advisory Group of the European Journal of Homelessness.
