He is former President of The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP); member of the European Academy for Industrial Management (AIM). He is founding Editor-in-Chief of the CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology; Associate Editor of Computers in Industry. For his research achievements – among others – the Dennis Gabor Prize and the Széchenyi Prize were given to him. He is a member of acatech, and KVAB. He is Senior Advisor of the Fraunhofer Society.
