Dr. Jakab Endre a régióbeli Bosch gyárak támogatásával a Miskolci Egyetem Gépészmérnöki és Informatikai Karán megalapított Robert Bosch Mechatronikai Tanszék vezetője 2005. július 1-től 2009. június 30-ig. A vállalkozó típusú tanszék működtetését 3 év után, 2008. 07. 01-től, a Miskolci Egyetem vette át. 2001. július 1.-től 2009. június 7-ig a GÉK általános dékánhelyettese, 2009. júniusban dékán.
