A kutatási téma leírása:

Nowadays, solar technology is one of the fundamental pillars of green electricity production. Around the world, we see solar panels installed in many places for the purpose of electricity production. In addition to silicon-based solar cells, non-conventional (meaning: non-silicon-based) solar cell technologies have appeared, such as the dye-sensitized solar cell or Grätzel cell, or the perovskite solar cell, etc. The application of Grätzel's cell in the fields of architecture and art is gaining more and more emphasis in sustainable architecture as well.
The dye-sensitized solar cell was developed in the 1990s by Michael Grätzel and his colleagues. Since then, developments in the field of dye-sensitized solar cells have been underway in several places, in the laboratories of famous universities and research institutes. In the Grätzel cell, the energy transported and communicated by the photons of light is converted into electrical energy (somewhat "similar" to the photosynthesis of green plants). Today, these cells can operate with an efficiency of over 10%. Optimizing their operation (the material that makes them, the paint material) is at the forefront of research in this direction.
The first task of the candidate who applies for the topic and is accepted will be to learn about the operation and development history of the dye-sensitized solar cell through in-depth literature research and analysis. After that, the first main direction of the research will be the examination of the operation of the light-sensitive material depending on different physical parameters, such as the energy, intensity, spectral composition of the excitation light, or the temperature of the cell and its environment, the humidity of the surrounding air, etc. After conducting the tests, the main research goal is to optimize the functioning of the cell material in relation to the above environmental components.
In terms of research methods, experimental, theoretical and computer simulation techniques are to be considered and used. Investigating the possibility of applying artificial intelligence to this target area could be a particularly interesting direction.
