Pollution of the environment with metals increased dramatically since the onset of the industrial revolution. Biological accumulators are organisms that reflect the chemical content of their environment. Biological monitoring with accumulator organisms provides an essential adjunct to instrumental recording. Due to the importance of the issue of air pollution with heavy elements and its various environmental effects, especially in industrial areas and densely populated urban areas with high traffic density, the process of identifying and monitoring heavy metals and trace elements in the air using the traditional air sampling technique is very expensive, especially air quality monitoring in a large area and remote areas, in addition to the importance of biomonitoring in the absence of devices to measure heavy elements directly, we resort to using plants (bio accumulators), as an effective, reliable, and sensitive biomonitoring tool to detect atmospheric pollution with heavy metals due to their ability to accumulate chemical pollutants and metals
