Stress proteins (Hsp= heat stress protein) generally guard, protect and refold proteins to maintain cellular functions. In tumors, a number of Hsps are responsible for therapeutic resistance, which makes them important pharmacological targets. Further tumor specific lipid and membrane association of Hsps can also be selectively targeted (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.plipres.2019.01.004 és https://doi.org/10.3390/cancers6010042). In this project we aim to dissect the role of Hsps in tumor invasion/ metastasis, and to reveal its therapeutic potential. To this end in vitro 3D spheroid organoids or in vivo animal experiments are used along with fluorescent and mass spectrometric imaging and analytical tools.
