This phenomenon in the manufacturing sector is called Industry 4.0 or smart manufacturing. The impact of digital changes goes beyond the boundaries of the firms and eventually influences the structure of the supply network (relations). Or in some cases, partners in the supply network motivate digitalisation in a firm.
