A kutatási téma leírása:
Michael Polanyi argued that intellectual life, including the arts, sciences, the law and public discourse, are organised as spontaneous ‘intellectual orders’. Such orders are based on distinct institutional rules that ensure the freedom of but also the discipline for intellectual debates. He argued that such orders are necessary for a free and civilised society but are constantly threatened by forces from within and outside. Of particular interest are the intellectual orders of scientists, experts and intellectuals that produce (or fail to produce) ideas for democratic politics or the economy. What are these orders? How are the institutionalised? How do their institutional structure and the ideas they generate interact?
