Description of the research topic:

Shorebirds (plovers, sandpipers and allies) are declining globally. My research group is uncovering the ecological, behavioural and demographic causes of population declines, and our recent work suggest that climate change is one of the major factors driving shorebird population changes. The student will join an internationally leading research group that focuses on understanding the impacts of climate change on shorebirds. The student will combine 2 research directions: collect data in the field from selected shorebird populations, and using remotely-sensed information investigate shorebird population changes on populations worldwide. The project will train the PhD student in field biology, ecology and conservation biology. In addition, the student will receive training in transferable skills including communication skills, publications and research designs.

Number of students who can be accepted: 1

Deadline for application: 2024-09-15
