Abbreviation of location of studies: ELTE
Description of the research topic:
Attacks against all digital systems are becoming increasingly sophisticated
thanks to well-funded actors, as well as the emergence of advanced AI systems.
This research is aimed at understanding, quantifying and proposing solutions
to mitigate this emerging threat especially in exposed cloud infrastructures
and organizations.
The candidate will develop solutions to better harden digital systems using
different machine learning algorithms, and Large Language Models (LLMs). The
candidate will be required to explore the complex world of digital security,
developing strategies to withstand the quickly changing environment of cyber
threats. The research will involve extensive analysis of current security
measures and their vulnerabilities, particularly in relation to cloud-based
systems. It will also involve the development of innovative techniques to
predict and prevent potential breaches.
Additionally, the candidate will explore how the principles of secure design
can be applied to existing systems to improve their resilience. This will
involve studying the architecture of digital systems, identifying weak points,
and proposing modifications to improve security.
Finally, the candidate will be expected to propose policy recommendations
based on their findings. These recommendations ought to aim to guide
organizations in adopting security measures and mitigating risks associated
with the use of AI and machine learning tools by threat actors. The goal of
this research is to contribute to the development of more secure digital
systems and to advance our understanding of the evolving cyber threats.
