Description of the research topic:
Many of flavonoids or flavonoid derivatives show valuable biological activity, antiinflammatory or antitumor activity, e.g. the flavopiridol, the flavonoid alkaloid kinase inhibitor, received orphan drug status from FDA for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia.
Recently, our research group have synthetised a few crysin derivatives with antitumor activity. The target is to improve this compound library varyiing the starting flavonoid core, or chromane skeleton, the spacer, the amine functions and all other moieties. In synthesis of the building blocks, we would like to study the organocatalysis applying cinchona or other derivatives.
The obtained compounds will be tested by National Institute of Health.
