Description of the research topic:

The period after 1848, as well as the period between the two world wars, is a popular and well-researched area of political and social history. However, the science and practice of criminal law, for example, remains largely unexplored. How have legal scholars (private law/criminal law) assessed the tightening/loosening of the new legislation? The questions to be answered under this theme include: How did the world wars change criminal and private law? On what grounds has the legislator justified the creation of legislation that extends/restricts/restricts rights? What was the role of case law in the period under review? The extension, restriction and withdrawal of certain freedoms between 1848 and 1944 can also be examined.
