Description of the research topic:
The study of selected items of Japanese Buddhist literature and the examination of the interactions between the various schools of Buddhism in light of the Shingon tradition and the esoteric aspects of the Tendai school. The goal is the critical analysis of original Classical Chinese (kanbun) or Classical Japanese texts, the presentation of their doctrinal background, and the manner in which they exerted their influence.
