This research topic allows the examination of regional development topics in many aspects, and may include particularly the analytical presentation of:
the role of various institutions in governance and the management of local and regional development,
emergence and evolution of theories of regionalism
comparative presentation of theories related to regionalism and regional development,
a comparison of the process of regionalisation
local and regional development and policy intervention strategies,
models of decentralization including devolution
organizational framework of regional administration
role of various actors in regional policy making and implementation
evolution and development of transregional, transnational corporations
the impact of regional development on economic policies
the practice of local and regional development
development of urban communities (cities) vs. regions
