Description of the research topic:

The phenomenon of the Self and the Other can be analysed from different angles. We can examine its significance in history, in literary history, but also from a literary theoretical, sociological or psychological point of view. The research should be based not only on one of these aspects, but preferably on several, so that the picture that emerges is not one-sided. The method used should be different from the polarising approaches which have dominated research to date, and which therefore necessarily reduce certain aspects of the problem. The analyses carried out so far have been predominantly characterised by a search for the “truth,” based on stereotypes.
The polarisation and pairs of oppositions that characterise texts of this kind can only be the “starting point” rather than the “end result” of the literary analysis. As a result of the deconstruction of oppositional pairs, text-organising techniques may come to light that could be described in terms of inversion, repetition, iterability and shifting meanings may. Naturally, in the course of these analyses, we cannot abandon the use of traditional methods, such as parallels, contrasts, contrasts, metaphors, the role of setting, characters and language, either. These methods can be used in a deconstructivist analysis, and do not contradict its basic principles.
The boundary between the Self and the Other (in literature) should not be a dividing line, but rather a meeting point in the sense described above.
