A magyar romantikát csak a nép-nemzeti kánon nézőpontjából engedi láttatni az irodalomtörténeti hagyomány, aminek számos negatív következménye van. Ez a kutatás arra irányul, hogy megpróbáljuk visszanyerni azokat az eltüntetett elsődleges kontextusokat, amelyek vélhetőleg a magyar romantika irodalmának sajátságos hátterét adták.
