Description of the research topic:
"Financial networks, liquidity and sustainability. The aim is to extend the analysis and understanding of bankruptcies in financial networks and liquidity in financial markets, considering sustainability (e.g. ESG) aspects, using theoretical economics (game theory, network theory, and general equilibrium theory). Some of the results will also be tested empirically. The research will be motivated by the 2007-8 financial crisis, the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak, or any situation where a bankrupt party may cause losses to others. Potential applications stem from studies of systemic risk (e.g. the impact of shocks or bank runs on the banking system), but applying the results to asset pricing and climate risk is also conceivable.
