Description of the research topic:
Clinical and economic benefits of pharmacist directed care of patients in hospital and community settings is more widely accepted recently, accordingly economic evaluation of basic and advanced pharmacy services has become increasingly commonplace to assess the value for money that these services provide. Although, health outcomes are clearly positive based on the international literature, the results and methods of evaluating the cost-effectiveness of these services vary substantially. It is relatively difficult to compare examinations and studies as there are large differences not only between countries, but also within countries in terms of pharmacist competencies and responsibilities. The aim of the PhD proposal is to gather important pharmacist interventions and competencies in international and domestic health care, to develop a methodology for health economic analysis of the activity based on the literature, to collect domestic data from institutions where clinical pharmacists work, and to collect data and preform the analysis with the developed methodology.
