Description of the research topic:
We are also interested in the natural antichlamydial defence mechanisms by which the host cells try to eliminate the infection. We study in detail the potential role of the host indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase enzyme in the elimination of murine and human chlamydial isolates. We developed new methods with which we can accurately measure the growth of Chlamydia. These methods are also used to test novel antimicrobial compounds to evaluate their antichlamydial activity.
