Description of the research topic:
The complex geological build-up of N Hungarian Paleozoic-Mesozoic structural units (the Aggtelek-Rudabánya Mts., the Szendrő and Uppony Mts. and the Bükk Mts.) fundamentally determines recent processes taking place on the surface and subsurface. Thus, the knowledge of the deformation of near-surface deposits and especially of their present-day replacement potential is essential since these factors determine different environmentally induced disintegration processes. Their forecast and the spatial prognosis of induced geological hazards (landslides, environmental pollution) is a substantial research task.
