Description of the research topic:
Due to the continuous scaling, the increase of the dissipation per unit area poses new challenges for todays electronic devices. Although there are many well-known cooling concepts (heat-pipe, thermal vias, etc.) advised topologies, the modern critical systems can pose design constraints, which requires unique solutions. The candidate has to investigate designated critical systems (satellites, clock distribution panels, nuclear sensor system) in his/her doctoral research by means of unique cooling techniques, heat transfer mechanism, which counts with the given constraints to create a properly functioning electronic device. Throughout the research special attention has to be made for the operation in harsh environment.
