Description of the research topic:
The constant social, technical and political changes which can also be detected in an international scope call for the creation of new response strategies in the field of criminal substantial law. The volume, dynamics and structure of crime is constantly changing, consequently law has to keep up with these changes. The introduction of new legal institutions, the re-evaluation of old institutions, the solution of the omnipresent problems generate new questions and technical difficulties. How can a pragmatic institution which was created in terms of modernisation be introduced into a strict structure which respects tradition and which is based on the traditional dogmas of criminal law? It is necessary to examine how criminal law is able to meet new challenges, international expectations and technical necessities while it also respects traditions. The topic will be concretised after a coordination with the applicants.
