Description of the research topic:

Several technologies or their various technological steps apply processes of thermal transformations, when some gaseous products are also formed. Even during the preliminary planning of such thermal transformations, it seems to be important to clarify the chemical and physical processes taking place, considering points of views of both technological (product quality) and environmental protection requirements.
The task of PhD student is exploration and study of thermal behaviour, thermal stability, degradation and decomposition or burning of the potential initial materials in details, by simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA) and coupled methods of evolved gas analysis. Special emphasis is to be done on combined parallel application of the instrumentation available in our lab (online coupled TG/DTA-MS és TG-FTIR spectroscopic gas cell) in exploration of detailed description and modelling of the evolution dynamics and mechanism of the occurring burning and/or decomposition products, in order to help both identification and monitoring/tracing of various volatile gaseous products, even in comparison for various starting substances. The obtained results are to be published in peer reviewed scientific journals in English.
