Description of the research topic:
"The utilization of electricity as a „pure” reagent in organic synthesis provides a sustainable and inexpensive method. However, despite these advantageous characteristics, these organic chemical transformations are not scouted and developed, so this is still not a widely known field of chemical science.
Our primary goal is the research focusing on the organic electrosynthesis in targeted chemical synthesis such as preparation of N-heterocycles for pharmaceutical purposes. These types of synthesis can be achieved in a traditional preparative way, however, they require harsh reaction conditions or very active toxic reagents, unlike the electrochemical route, which works under mild conditions. Such developed electrochemical methods will offer tools for the green production of special biologically active compounds and their building blocks.
The project proposes to translate the state-of-the-art reaction systems in chemical electrosynthesis in materials sciences and medicinal chemistry, using electrochemical transformations providing high-level quality membranes and materials."
