Description of the research topic:

Providing appropriate thermal comfort in closed spaces is crucial to performing activities with high efficiency. Internal or external factors may create asymmetric radiation which leads to discomfort. The main goal of the proposed research is to figure out the level of discomfort created by low or high-temperature surfaces in the case of different indoor air set point temperatures. The tests are carried out for both cold and warm radiating, vertical and horizontal surfaces. Mapping of the differences between the effects of long and short-wave radiation is the subject of the study as well. Using the comfort equations, the mean radiant and plane radiant temperatures are to be determined to establish the predicted percentage of dissatisfied persons. Experimental investigations are planned in the indoor environment quality laboratory with subjects in order to compare the predicted mean vote and thermal sensation votes of subjects. The relation between radiation asymmetry, indoor air temperature, and the percentage of dissatisfied persons is going to be determined.
